SUMMARY:How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying - a Broadway musical
DESCRIPTION:The Broadway musical How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying is a fun trip back to the 60s\, with jazzy songs\, sharp dialogue\, and dancing galore. First National Bank of Manchester is sponsoring the Millennium Repertory Company production at the Manchester Arts Center\, 128 E. Main St. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm\, April 21-30.\n\n \n\nDanelle Afflerbaugh of Duck River Dance in Manchester\, Tennessee directs and choreographs the show. She says\, "Audiences can expect to tap their toes during the show and leave laughing." Afflerbaugh says she especially enjoys highlighting the male cast members in this production with song and dance. \n\n \n\nThe show\, which won seven Tony Awards in 1962\, including Best Musical\, tells the story of J. Pierrepont Finch (played by Landon Spangler) and his topsy-turvy rise from window washer to chairman of the board as he follows a satirical book of instructions. Along the way\, Finch falls for Rosemary Pilkington\, a secretary (played by Amanda Nellie Jean Wright) who dreams of nuptials as she sings "Happy to Keep His Dinner Warm." The cast of the office personnel is made up of local favorites of the Manchester stage\, including Joel Longstreth\, Laurie Burger\, Jeanne Edwards\, Rachel Spangler\, Sheila Cagle\, Jim Shemwell\, Ian Disch\, and Micah Hansen. Music director\, Derrick Minnick\, joins the cast as well. Performers Noel Clements\, Jared Fibelkorn\, Jesse Fedorko\, Juliet Stephens\, Vicki Disch\, Jillene Buckner\, Bradley Gerard\, and Casandra Reese Buckner complete this sensational ensemble. The music of the World Wide Wickets Corporation includes "Coffee Break\," "The Company Way\," and "A Secretary is Not a Toy." Ironically\, after Finch bumbles his way into success\, he contemplates running for President of the US by the end of the show.\n\n \n\nAfflerbaugh declares that "theatre goers will be treated to a silly production filled with talented cast members and familiar faces\, some of whom you'll see dancing on tables." Tickets for the production are $15 for adults\, $13 for students\, seniors\, and military\, and may be purchased online at millenniumrep.org or by leaving a message at 931-570-4489. Audiences are warned that the show contains language and some comical situations that may be unsuitable for some audiences.
